My name is Sian, and I am a Neurodevelopmental Specialist Nurse.
I qualified in 2017 as a registered learning disability nurse and worked within the NHS in the community supporting autistic adults and adults with learning disabilities. Before this, I worked with autistic adults and children who also have a learning disability as a support worker.
I love supporting people with their sexual health, through pregnancy and empowering individuals to make informed choices in their relationships. I started one of the only sex and relationships groups for adults who have a learning disability, in the country.
I have experience supporting people with their mental health, specifically around self-harm and I am DBT trained. I also have experience in supporting people during addiction and helping people navigate their way through the criminal justice system.
A bit about me. I am married with two children. My youngest is currently on the pathway to an autism diagnosis. I am also the sibling of someone who has a learning disability and have other autistic family members. I have two cats and a breeding colony of hissing cockroaches. I love Dr Who, all things Halloween and spooky, and am a big theme park enthusiast.
I am so excited to work with Autism Oxford UK and I’m looking forward to helping you celebrate your strengths and finding out what is important to you.
