Hi, my name is Jade! I work with Autism Oxford UK as a Peer Support Practitioner.
I graduated from London Metropolitan University with an undergraduate degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and I am currently working towards a level 5 diploma in counselling. Across my career so far, I have worked in the NHS and private sector in adult eating disorder services as a specialist eating disorder dietitian. I have worked with many adults who are neurodivergent with a diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder or avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID). I have gained a wealth of experience and further training in the assessment and treatment of neurodivergent adults with complex mental health needs who are nutritionally compromised.
I bring a wealth of lived experience to my role within Autism Oxford as I discovered I am autistic at the age of 38 whilst supporting my son through his assessment process which identified that he is also autistic (with a PDA profile), dyslexic and has ARFID. I have lived experience of navigating and advocating for my son within the SEN (Special Education Needs) school system regarding EHCPs (Education, Health, Care Plans), EOTIS (Education Other than in School), EBSA (Emotionally Based School Anxiety), internalised presentations and masking.
When I am not at work, you can usually find me somewhere with sunshine, coffee and cake enjoying quality time with my son and our puppy. If the sun isn’t shining you will probably find me tucked up under a blanket with coffee, cake and daydreaming about warmer days!
