My name is Ellie and I am a Neurodevelopmental Practitioner/Clinical Associate Psychologist here at Autism Oxford UK.
Outside of my role with Autism Oxford UK, I am a Clinical Associate Psychologist in the NHS in Cornwall. My experience has spanned NHS community, inpatient and crisis mental health services, as well as in the grassroots charity sector and with displaced communities in refugee settings.
In my current NHS role, I support both people who access the emergency department in crisis, as well as those admitted to general hospital with complex physical and mental health needs. Often, the people I work with have undiagnosed neurodivergence and can find themselves stuck in repeated cycles of crisis. Identifying and addressing their unmet needs is really important to keep them safe, break the cycles they’re stuck in and support them in moving forward with their recovery.
I am passionate and committed to ensuring that people’s voices are heard. There’s a lot of us on this planet and we all have shared experiences and completely unique ones; I find that really interesting and beautiful.
I love being outside and spending time in nature, so if I’m not working, you’ll probably find me hiking, rowing, surfing, swimming or teaching yoga.
