Hello, my name is Anna, and I have joined Autism Oxford as a Peer Support Practitioner.
My professional background is in education, and I have taught science, specialising in biology, to 11-18 year olds in several mainstream secondary schools for over 15 years.
I am an Autistic/ADHD/PDAer and parent to two PDA teenagers. Both access educational provision linked to their interests, rather than formal, mainstream education. I am passionate about interest-based learning which is often key to supporting neurodivergent learners.
My interests lie in supporting neurodivergent people in understanding how their particular profile impacts them and how to self-advocate. I am also passionate about educating those who care for or work with, neurodivergent people about how best to meet their needs and champion their strengths. I believe in promoting radical acceptance and fostering a positive neurodivergent identity, with a particular focus on PDA.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time in nature both on my own and with friends or family.
