My name is Agnes and I am originally from Mauritius.
I started working as an occupational therapist in paediatric in 2012 in Montreal, Canada, and am more and more passionate about the work I do and the people I meet through my work as time goes by. I have experience working with children with developmental delays, learning difficulties, gross motor and fine motor difficulties, sensory processing and emotional difficulties, autism, and ADHD, amongst other things. I have been working in school settings, clinical settings as well as the children’s home environment.
I love working closely with the adults supporting the children so that they can understand their unique profile and ways of connecting with the world around them, in order to support the children up the developmental ladder through meaningful relationships, and play/meaningful occupations.
I am Sensory Integration trained as well as an expert training leader in DIR Floortime. These have shaped the way I practice, putting the person and his/her interest at the centre of my work, understanding the central role of relationships in the child’s life, and adopting a developmental lens when thinking about the people I work with.
In my work, I love to play, humour, to be creative and imaginative, and to be active. I also like to be outdoors, rock climbing, biking, cooking, meeting and connecting with people, going back to Mauritius to see my family, and art and craft.
