PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance):

Discover PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) at Autism Oxford UK. While not formally recognised as a medical diagnosis, PDA represents a unique autistic profile. Although individuals with ADHD may share similar characteristics, PDA is currently acknowledged primarily within the autistic community based on evidence-based research.

Understanding PDA is crucial for individuals and their support networks. Our highly specialised team, comprising experts with both lived experience and clinical expertise, is dedicated to assessing and identifying the PDA profile. Our CEO, Kimberley Ashwin, endorses the PDA Society’s Assessing and Identifying the PDA profile clinical guidance, which is used within our service.

At Autism Oxford UK, we conduct comprehensive profiling assessments over two appointments using tools recommended in the guidance. Following the assessment, you’ll receive a detailed report featuring personalised strategies and recommendations tailored to your needs.

Gain valuable insights and support in navigating the challenges associated with PDA. Contact us today to schedule an appointment with our expert team.

Internalised Presentation:

Explore Internalised Presentation (Previously known as the female presentation) at Autism Oxford UK. Our team consists of clinical experts and individuals with lived experience who have devoted their careers to understanding this unique profile.

We recognise the prevalence of camouflaging strategies such as masking, compensatory behaviours, and assimilation, often leading to autistic burnout if not managed carefully. Our profiling assessment is designed to uncover the specific camouflaging techniques employed and to develop a comprehensive understanding of the social motivation commonly observed in individuals with this profile. It is important that this presentation is identified and understood, so alternative strategies and support can be explored and also needs to be identified early and reduce the risk of diagnostic overshadowing.

Our recommendations focus on equipping individuals with skills to navigate the complexities of the world while fostering positive self-identity. The assessment process spans two appointments and utilises evidence-based tools to ensure accuracy and reliability.
